Dar es Salaam hockey premiership title has remained wide open following a slip up of the pace makers Tanzania Prisons last Sunday.

Prisons, who were supposed to draw the match and bag their maiden title, found the going tough after losing to holders Tanzania People’s Defence Forces at the Lugalo venue by two clear goals.

With 16 points to their credit, Prisons are close to the title podium should they just draw their final match against Dar es Salaam Khalsa to be played at the Lugalo venue on Sunday.

Should Prisons draw level they will have points which are unassailable by the rest of the four teams in the league.

However, TPDF or Khalsa might be crowned as winners of the title on account of goal aggregates in case of a tie in points at the end of the league.

Both Khalsa and TPDF have thirteen points apiece after six appearances in the league.

To stay in hunt for title retention, TPDF are supposed to beat Ngome in their final match to be played on Sunday and await the result of Prisons and Khalsa match.

Dar Institute has pulled out of the league and their remaining match points have nee forfeited by the other teams.

Ngome have an opportunity to end the league as runners up as they have a ceiling of 12 points should they beat TPDF in the final match on Sunday.

For TPDF to win the title they must win their final match against Ngome by a big margin of goals while wishing Khalsa to beat Prisons.

Prisons have lost only one match out of the seven appearances to lead the league by a three-point gap.
