Preliminaries of Miss Tanzania get underway with Redds Miss Kurasini to be staged at the Equator Grill in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.
The organisers have set aside a prize package to the tune of half million shillings to be awarded to the eventual winner.
The event that saw Mwajabu Juma cruise into the presentation podium during the previous edition has attracted a total of 16 contestants.
The events information officer, Sam Mshana said 350,000/- has been set aside to the first runner-up as third placed finisher takes home 250,000/-. The fourth and fifth winners will get 200,000/- each while the rest have a consolation cash prize to the tune of 100,000/-.
Mshana named the contestants with their respective age in bracket as Tulekene Seth (20), Angel Gasper (19), Christina Moses (22), Venus Chambers (21), Flaviana Maeda (22), Mwanaisha Zuberi (21), Farida Rope (23), Irene Sosthenes (20), Edina Magige (22), and Sia Kimambo (21).
Others are Nzelani Week (22), Lillian Joseph (20), Anna Zachariah (21), Asha Mussa (21), Linda Deus (22) and Betty Peter (22).
Rose Herbert who won Miss talent in the previous edition of Miss Tanzania is in charge of guiding the contestants.
Coordinator of the beauty pageant Yason Mashaka said the competition will also feature entertainment from the FM Academia band also known as ‘Wazee wa Ngwasuma' and the taarab songstress Khadija Omar Kopa.
"There will be enough entertainment during the competition as confirmed by Mashaka.
Most of the contestants confidently bragged to cruise into the podium as winner of the event.
"I am very well prepared for the competition, and I believe to win then represent Kurasini in Miss Temeke competition", said one of the contestants.
