This year’s Miss Ilala will be awarded a car, organisers of the regional contest, Machozi Entertainment has said.
Gadner Habash, the company director, said on Friday night when officiating at the Miss Dar City Centre beauty contest that the contest will be held in September.
Gadner who was chief judge said that top winners of Miss Tabata, Ukonga and Dar City Centre will vie for a car to be donated by businessmen Mzamiri Katunzi and Charles Mtawali. The two sponsors were also present at the contest staged in Kinondoni District instead of Ilala.
This will be the second time for the organisers of Miss Ilala contest to put a car at stake for the winner. The first time was in 2006 when the car was won by Miss Tabata, Lydia Joseph. Meanwhile, a Dar es Salaam University student, Edda Silyvester (21), was on Friday night crowned Miss Kigamboni at a beauty contest held at Navy Beach, Kigamboni.
She was awarded Sh500, 000 at a contest which was coloured by entertainment from FM Academia, ‘Wazee wa Ngwasuma.’
Agnes Goodluck pocketed Sh350, 000 by emerging first runner-up while Sh300, 000 went to Elizabeth Boniface who came third.
Esther Albert and Khadija Kombo finished fourth and fifth respectively, and obtained Sh200, 000 each. Chief judge Benny Kisaka said that all top five will compete at the Miss Temeke contest in the next two months.
Other contestants were Sophia Martin, Rosemary Peter, Doreen Kweka and Linnah David. They obtained consolation prizes of Sh150,000 each. The event was organised by K&L Media Solutions under the sponsorship of Dodoma Wines and Redds.
