Feed the Children Tanzania (FTCT) country director Mathew Ngwahi has called on different institutions in the country to support children with disability by financing their education and other needs.

Ngwahi sounded the call when handing over a donation of items worth 8,000,000/- to Uhuru Mchanganyiko Primary school in Dar es Salaam at the weekend. He also stressed on the importance of creating their awareness and promoting advocacy for children’s rights and development in local policies to enhance the quality of life amongst needy children.

He informed that in a move to accomplish the task, the FTCT is working to address some of the most pressing needs by providing learning tools and facilities to various schools such as clean and safe water, latrines, basic feeding infrastructure, desks and classrooms. “We, as FTC, are engaging with preparing and providing better learning environment for disabled children, especially the deaf and blind children category at Uhuru school,” explained Ngwahi.

Ngwahi said so far they have managed to support schools in four districts of Kinondoni, Ilala, Temeke and Kisarawe and was expecting to reach 40 other districts, targeting to benefit more than 35,000 pupils.
