Kirit Pandya and his son Dharam have dominated the previous season’s motor rally after emerging first and runners-up, respectively.
The duo’s performance was acknowledged by the Automobile Association of Tanzania at the Atlantis Hotel in Dar es Salaam on Friday night.
Kirit and Dharam are both using Subaru cars and managed to compete in most of the rallies of the last year season.
None of the two posted an outright victory in the national championship but they scooped precious points to stay on top on cumulative totals.
While Kirit was navigated by Awadh Bafadhil, his son Dharam used a home-grown navigator, Sanjeev Pandya, who happens to e his uncle.
The duo brought with their families during the presentation ceremony and was all smiles at the gala.
The AAT president, Nizar Jivani, presented the prizes to the duo and other winners of the season including Eric Comarc who came third in the final standings.
The short but brief and colurful ceremony was attended by most of the competitors of the ongoing Puma Energy Rally that winds up today.
In navigators category Awadh Bafadhil excelled for the second season running to beat Sanjeev Pandya and
Group winner was N. Sandar V. Waal who used Mitsubishi Evolution to beat Pandya and Larry Horn (Porsche) to the runners-up and third place, respectively.
As it has always been the case Arusha Motor Sports Club emerged as the best in the country on the basis of activity and organization or motor rallies.
The club is the only one in the country top has been able to stage two events per season.
