TBF secures American Basketball coaching duo
The Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) has secured coaching duo from the United States who will be responsible to train the national senior women and men teams.
The coaches as mentioned by the TBF vice-president Phares Magesa are Albert Sokaitis and Jacques Sconiers who have vast experience in the game.
Both coaches are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam on September 21 ready for the assignment.
The coaches will be assisted by four other domestic coaches to ease communication and coordination in their job.
TBF have appointed Evarist Mapunda, Leonard Kwale, Agnella Semwaiko and Bahati Mgunda.
The American coaches will also be responsible to train domestic coaches on how best to impart knowledge to players and other technical aspects of the game.
In related development, Taifa Cup championship will be staged in Tanga for seven days from October 20.
The TBF official also said Tanzania has been awarded with a hosting status of the Zone Five FIBA championship that would attract national teams from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Egypt, Sudan and South Sudan.
The championship will be staged in Dar es Salaam later in December.
