The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has stopped referee Mathew Akrama and other match officials from officiating this season’s Mainland Premier League matches.
TFF Information officer Boniface Wambura said yesterday that the officials were removed from the referees’ list after failing to properly handle their league matches at different occasions.
He said the TFF executive committee had stopped Akrama for failing to handle properly the match between archrivals Yanga and Simba. Wambura said the Mwanza-based referee failed to control the match, instead gave shaky decisions in the match ended 1-1 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam last Wednesday.
TFF has removed also the name of referee Paul Soleji of Mwanza and his assistant Mwarabu Mumbi of Morogoro for failing to control the match between
Simba and Tanzania Prisons. Simba won the match 2-1.
The commissioner of the match between Yanga and African Lyon, Pius Mashera, has been removed also from the list after arriving late in the pre-match meeting and on the playing ground.
Meanwhile, Simba have been fined Sh100, 000 for arriving late in their pre-match meeting against Tanzania Prisons. The Msimbazi Street side have been also fined Sh500,000 for letting their fans abuse match officials in that game.
