The Tourism Confederation of Tanzania (TCT) in collaboration with the Tanzania Tourists Board (TTB) are engaging in a five-year tourism campaign aimed at promoting travelers abroad for the country’s southern circuit and western zone.
This was revealed on Friday by Dr Aloyce Nzuki, the TTB’s Managing Director during the unveiling of the International marketing Strategy for Tanzania as a tourist destination in Dar es Salaam.
He said they will focus on these areas because they are not well known in many countries compared to the northern circuit.
The rate of tourist arrivals is likely to increase because during the implementation of the new international marketing strategy for Tanzania both TCT and TTB will put more emphasis in investing in new products in the existing markets as well as in new ones and they will look at products which will take the country forward, he said.
To meet this initiative, TCT and TTB will introduce different tourism activities that will attract more visitors to see the country’s exceptional blend of scenery of wildlife and human culture.
Apart from that both TTB and TCT will be working together to source funds to strengthen tourism infrastructures in areas where tourists normally visit, in terms of airline connections and airport facilities, the quality and level of services, develop the southern circuit and the mainland coast and the western area.
Other strategies will include improving safety and services in different places where tourists will tour.
Highlighting on marketing instruments, he said through the new strategy that has been developed both TTB and TCT will choose one international representative in the existing markets and new markets that will help them sell Tanzania as a tourists’ destination in the world.
“To start with, Tanzania will have a representative in the UK, German, Italy, and later in France and the Netherlands,” he said.
According to Nzuki, the international road shows will be conducted in UK, US, Canada, German, Italy, France and Netherlands and as TTB and TCT.
Apart from that TCT and TTB will organize international travel trade shows and focus on UK, US, Canada, German and Italy as primary countries and France, Netherlands, Canada, Australia and Spain as secondary source nations.
They intend to focus on the southern circuit of Kigoma, Bukoba and other areas as well as western area because right now mainland coast remain undeveloped.
Also they will use E-marketing and e-tourism, concentrate on digital presence to promote Tanzania as a tourists’ destination in many parts of the word, involve local people, invite bloggers, You Tube, Flickr, Facebook, Website, free publicity and trade shows.
Meanwhile Gaudence Temu, the TCT’s Chairman added that the new international strategy will help individuals who visit our country to talk positively about Tanzania.
“As stakeholders engaged in this sector we need to improve service delivery and we need to invest much more in protecting tourists’ attractions, safety for visitors and improve tourism infrastructure,” he said.
During the implementation of the new international strategy the theme will be Tanzania is One of the Most Beautiful Countries in the World, Inhabited by Friendly and Warm Hearted People.
Apart from that it offers the experienced travelers the unforgettable beauty of nature, wildlife and beaches away from the crowds, back to the essence- and the spirit of Africa, simple and inspiring.
