The Kisutu Resident Magistrate court in Dar es Salaam yesterday adjourned the case facing actress Elizabeth Michael, popularly known as Lulu, who is charged with alleged murder over the death of a domestic film star, Steven Kanumba, until December 17, this year.
Prosecution led by State Attorney Kenneth Sekwao informed the court that the investigation into the case is still in progress.
Defence advocate Peter Kibatala has once again requested the prosecution to speed up investigation because the accused has already stayed long in the custody.
He made the request before Resident Magistrate Augustina Mbando, who presides over the case and she granted the advocate request and ordered the prosecution to speed up the investigation.
The case was brought back to Kisutu to proceed with the main suit after an application by Lulu’s counsel Kibatala, who wanted the court to determine the accused person’s actual biological age.
Magistrate Mbando adjourned the case until December 17, this year when it comes up for another mention.
According to the charge sheet, the accused is alleged to have committed the offence on April 7 at Sinza Vatican in Kinondoni district.
The accused, who earlier submitted that she was 17 years old and not 18 as per the charge sheet, is still in custody.
