The Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) has released names of twenty one players who will represent the country at the forthcoming International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned East African junior championship to be held in Dar es Salaam next month.
TTA secretary general Inger Njau said the players are expected to join residential camp on Sunday under coaching duo of Kiango Kipingu and Hassan Kassim.
She said the players were selected based on their previous local and international performances.
Njau expressed optimism over the team to excel at the competition which has attracted players from 13 other countries
She named the selected players in 12 and under girls’ category as Emilian Katabalo, Shadya Kitenge and Joyria Ismail while boys are Emmanuel Temba, Mozilla Joshua and Nasoro Abdul.
Girls 14 and under are Georgina Kaindoah, Asia Morris and Rahabu Shaban while boys are Emmanuel Nicodemas, Omari Sule, Martina Johna and Frank Menard .
The 16 & under girls team is made up of Edina John, Zuhura Baraka, Peggy Msuku and Semeni Patrick while boys are John Njau, Tumaini Martin, Goodluck Shelemo and Sadik Ibrahim .
Njau also disclosed that her association is still running short of $10,000 to successfully host the event which will be used as a qualifier for the 2013 ITF /CAT African Junior tournament.
The tournament in Dar es Salaam starts on January 06.
