Team dispatched to Kagera to probe policemen killings

Inspector General of Police Said Mwema has dispatched team of investigators to join police in Kagera Region to investigate the murder of two colleagues, Sande John CPL Pascal (E.579) and PC Alexander (H.429) which occurred in Ngoma village, Kanazi Division, Ngara District.

Already 20 people have been arrested by the police in Kagera on suspicion of involvement in the killing.

A statement issued by police spokesperson ASP Advera Senso said the team involved the Investigation and Operations department personnel.

The statement said, while the investigation is in progress, the police urge the citizens of Kagera region to be calm and continue to offer cooperation to the police as they work on identifying the criminals.

Meanwhile, the Kagera Regional Police Commander, Philip Kalangi, confirmed the arrest of the 20 suspects.

“The suspects were arrested following the ongoing manhunt to identify those responsible for the killings of the policemen and setting the police station on fire,” said Kalangi.
