58 million/- for drug addicts rehab centre

Kikale village, Rufiji district in the Coast region is the site for a new rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol addicts.

The Kikale Youth Care Organisation (KYC) Secretary General, Maulid Mlawa, explained that the centre would start with a sober house with 50 beds and later it would be expanded to 200 beds and to this endeavour the organisation has started a rehabilitation project valued at 58m/- to refurbish a 12m/- building procured for the purpose.

Hamis Amiri Ngwaya, a resident shared his views about the centre and he commended the Kikale Youth Care Organisation (KYC) whose efforts resulted in the centre’s construction. Another villager, Mariam Juma highlighted the fact since the centre will extend medical care to all villagers then, it will help low income earners access health care services.

The centre was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the organisation, Asia Idarusi who encouraged the villagers to utilise the centres’s facilities.
