CCM should restore unity to win bye-elections -MP

15th February 2013
Mvomero Member of Parliament, Amos Makalla

The Mvomero Member of Parliament in Morogoro Region, Amos Makalla has said that divisions within the ruling CCM party have given loopholes to opposition parties to win various by-elections.

He said another reason was failure of CCM members to explain the successes registered so far as outlined by the election manifesto.

Makalla made the remarks in Sungaji Ward, Mvomero District when handing over a donation of 45 chairs to the ward office and 24 iron sheets to complete the construction of the Mayambi CCM Branch in Sungaji Ward.

He said this was no longer time for fights among CCM members themselves because doing so will continue to pave the way for opposition parties to do better, instead he urged them to strengthen internal solidarity and implement the party's election manifesto as they prepare for local government elections next year before the general election in 2015.

“Divisions within the party are the ones giving opposition parties a competitive edge, if we stick together, we will emerge victorious,” said Makalla.

Makalla who is the Deputy Minister for Information, Youth, Culture and Sports said another problem is that CCM members did not communicate to the public the successes of implementing the party's election manifesto, thus giving room to opposition parties to debase whatever has been done by the CCM government.

He said among successes of the CCM government include construction of many major roads at the tarmac level.

According to him, other successes included construction of modern airports, improvement in the health and education sectors and others.

Makalla called for unity and an end to all differences.
