At least 50 houses including three primary schools in the Morogoro municipality have been damaged following over two hours of heavy down-pour and strong winds. There was no loss of life nor any injuries reported.
Speaking to journalists, the chairperson of Mafisa area in Mwembesongo ward, Hamisi Tororo, reported that the damages have rendered a number of families homeless.
“…they are at the mercy of their neighbours who are helping them as they have nothing…” he lamented and called on the government as well as the private sector, religious organizations and others to step up and come to the villagers aid.
Ally Kalungwana, the Mwembesongo councilor, reported that no one has lost his/her life or luckily even got injured as is to be confirmed by the district authority as well as to the committee responsible for disaster.
“…I have spoken to the district authority as well as the committee responsible for disaster response for their intervention …”
No reports were readily available as to the monetary value of the damages incurred.
