Over 15 drivers have confirmed to take part in the seasonal opener motor rally to be held for two days in Dare s Salaam from Saturday.
The dare s salaam Motor Sports club official Salim hadji said the event will be held for two days and the route is confined within Dar es Salaam and Coast Region.
The event counts towards the Automobile Association of Tanzania’s national championship.
The AAT has lined up eight motor rallies to be held throughout the country for the season.
The DMSC that used to keep low profile for several seasons is back to revive the game in the region and has pledged to stage one more event after this weekend’s.
The rally will be flagged off at the Golden Tulip Hotel in the city and drivers will proceed to Kisarawe, Chanika, Masaki and loop to Kazimzumbwi where cars will round three times before returning back to the hotel.
Competing cars will be scrutinized at the Golden Tulip Hotel on Saturday to ascertain safety and other regulations.
Some of the drivers who have already confirmed to take part in the day-long event include the Flightlink team of Kirit and Dharam Pandya, the title holder.
Other drivers lined up for the event include Arusha based driving duo of Eric Comarc Marco Fereira, Salim Hadji, Fayaz Chandu, Gurpal Singh and Jamal Khan.
The event is expected to be thrilling as each driver will be seeking to earn early points to keep on track for the title race.
Holder Dharam Pandya will be navigated by Mahmood Jaffer instead of his usual one Sanjeev Pandya.
Sanjeev is taking a pause after partnering with Dharam for more than five years.
Kirit Pandya who finished runners-up at the end of the previous season having failed to defend the title, has not changed navigator. He will be with Awadh Bafadhil who won navigation titles for two seasons before Sanjeev took the crown last season.
The full distance of the rally is 260 kilometres.
