The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations, COSAFA has extended an invitation to the Tanzania national soccer team in the body’s championship to be staged in Lusaka in July.
The Tanzania team, Taifa Stars will be making a second appearance in the championship after maiden show during the 1996 edition held in Harare.
Countries whose national football associations are members of the COSAFA block includes South Africa, , Angola, Botswana, Comoro, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The championship kicks off in three Zambian cities of Lusaka, Ndola and Kabwe from July 6 to 21.
The tournament fixture is expected to be unveils on May 3 in the Zambian capital.
The invitation has come at the time when Taifa Stars will be opening intensive training camp to gear up for the World cup qualifiers at the end of next month.
Stars are lined up to meet Morocco in their return leg match to be played in Marrakech on June 6 or 7 ahead of another return leg against Cote d’Ivoire barely a week later in Dar es Salaam.
The COSAFA tournament will be a perfect drill for Tanzania as the country’s national team also gears up for qualifiers of CHAN tourney exclusive for domestic-based players against Uganda in early July.
In related development sports writers who are interested to report the COSAFA tournament in Lusaka have been advised to submit their names to the Tanzania Football Federation before Saturday to process accreditation.
