By Deogratius Kiduduye, Mbeya

This year's Nane Nane Agriculture Show will be celebrated in Mbeya at the national level for the third year in a row.

So far Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia have confirmed they will participate, according to Rukwa Regional Commissioner George Mkuchika.

Tanzania Agricultural Society (TASO), regional commissioners and administrative secretaries from Mbeya, Iringa, Ruvuma and Rukwa regions met last week in Mbeya to hammer last details about the show.

Mkuchika called on officials and Tanzania Chambers of Commerce branches to extend as many invitations to stakeholders within and outside the country as possible.

He said the theme for this year’s show was 'Agriculture practices are key strategies to poverty eradication.

According to TASO’s Southern Highland Zonal Secretary Ramadhani Kiboko, over 107m/- will be needed to host the event.

'TASO's contribution to the budget will be 23m/-. We are seeking our partners and general public to help fill in the deficit,' he said.

Mbeya Regional Commissioner Mateo Qaresi, who chaired the meeting, said Prime Minister Fredrick Sumaye is expected to officially open the show.

'We have also extended an invitation to President Benjamin Mkapa to grace the closing ceremony.

We pray our President will positively consider our request. It will be a great honour to our region,' said the RC.
