CHADEMA national chairman Freeman Elikael Mbowe was yesterday picked by his party to run for Union presidency.
Mbowe emerged winner after polling 1,920 votes out of 2,267.

He defeated Maulid Aboubakar who got 144 votes and former MP Chiku Abwao who trailed with 99.

During the party’s congress, Jumbe Rajab Jumbe from Zanzibar was picked as Mbowe’s running mate.

In his acceptance speech, Mbowe said, ’’I accept your decision, which gives me the opportunity to serve the public.

If elected, I will make changes in the political direction and governance of this country for the benefit of all Tanzanians.’’

He said that the presidential post was not an easy task. ’’It needs time, concentration and goodwill to serve the public better.’’
