’Promising jobs galore merely cheap talk’

The legal campaign period for political parties who intend to take over government come October has started in gusto.

A time like this is when the so-called politicians cum liars can bow down to kiss the feet of an average street vendor.

That is done for one reason, getting their vote and after that they are away for five years.

In such times, voters’ minds are flooded with wishful thinking if not dreams from presidential candidates fertile world of imagination, which they take without verifying. All these goes to show how vulnerable voters can be sometimes.

In some countries we have seen politicians promising to build a bridge where there is no river and the voter scream ’Viva comrade so and so’ and it does not cross their minds that the gentleman or lady talking is in fact lying.

I am afraid Tanzania is heading for the same situation this time around.

The town is decorated with posters from different party leaders who all want to make it into the State House and its is amazing that some of this leaders want to use lies to get there.

Mob psychology is another tool they are using as their chant emotionally motivating slogans that liven an average person convinced that they are the right man for the job.

First it was the ruling party, CCM that announced that they will open one million jobs in the next fives years meaning that at least over 3000 will be employed every month.

To everyone its was Kikwete led party means business this time around but to a critical person it marked the beginning of cheap talk that will leave the voters with a confused mind.

While we were still digesting that, CUF came with 2.5 million and later raised it to three million.

We were all confused and we started looking around for the auctioneers because it had turned like parties were now bidding on this one.

Our stomachs are about betraying us on this one. These politicians are confusing the minds of the voters.

I am afraid the media is also paralysed; they allow these guys to escape with murder. How would you build a castle on air?

For example CCM has been in power for the past 10 years and they failed to open those job so how come this time around they think they will make it.

This is ridiculous! Someone must wake up these two party leaders for its like they are fast asleep and they are dreaming.

Even five star economies of the world, I mean in countries like the United States of America, and others they cannot afford to do this.

The point is they must use clean methods to get more votes not lies. This is criminal and I say again it is criminal and not accepted in this and the coming world.

Hardly a month ago the out going President, Benjamin Mkapa promised the World Bank that he will fire a reasonable number of workers in the government and parastatals once the huge debts the country has are cancelled.

World Bank agreed, the debts were cancelled and this honest man (Mkapa) kept his promise look what is happening at TTCL, news that the company is privatizing are getting stronger everyday.

A number of people will soon be on the street, adding to those who are without jobs and there comes someone shouting that, ” once I am the president I will open 3 million jobs. We are really bored by these guys.

Its time they start addressing issues not tissues. I mean issues like giving the native Tanzanians a fair share of the economy, not flooding the country with fake investors who are selling bread.

It is time they address issues of infrastructure, health and other serious matters.

CCM why are you betraying a Goodman? Why do you want to dent the image of the outgoing president?

This president has given a nod to privatization and this means downsizing of manpower to a manageable figure. You are really not fair to him.

Really is it not possible to come up with 3 million jobs with privatizing hovering its ugly axe on the other side.

This is just cheap talk which is meant to confuse the mind of the voters ahead of the election and people like me wont tolerate it.

Voters wake up don’t be fooled by these fortune seekers who want to use you to make their way into State House.

It is not my job to decide for you as to whom to vote for, but make it a point that the decision you take is informed.

It is a pity that the government for a long time decided to put aside the voter education.

This could have helped the voters make informed decisions this time around. One wonders if we really have the Chief Electoral Office.

If we have, he and his support staff are stealing the taxpayers money because they are failing on their duties.

Who told them that the people are now versed on election matters? The chairman is guilty on this one and he had betrayed the nation by failing to organize a voter education.

Now these parties are taking advantage of this desperate situation. NGOs do try something but they burn out along the way because of lack of funds.

The truth is it is the duty of the government to educate the nation on elections.

Lastly dear voters don’t give IN easily to this cheap talk. The T-shirts, which they are dishing around like no body’s business, cannot carry you and me through these five years.

Judge Lewis Makame (chairman of the electoral office) wake up sir. I am sorry to disturb you from your sleep.

The voters are under siege. Do something before these liars are done with them.

Lets make a good decision and again I say may the best party that treasures the interest of the people at heart win this time around.
