Man kills wife, hangs himself

A Babati District resident has committed suicide after murdering his wife, police said yesterday.
Manyara Regional Police Commander Jamal Rwambo said 60-year-old Nade Ayaki hanged himself at Shaurimoyo Village on Friday after killing his wife following a quarrel.
He named the woman as Petroria Amedi, 37, who enraged Ayaki after threatening to leave him.
Rwambo said the man had initially tried to persuade his wife to change his mind, but the woman stuck to her guns.
This sparked a quarrel between the spouses during which Ayaki picked up a sickle and stabbed Amedi to death.
Ayaki then hanged himself with a rope.
The bodies were discovered on the following day and were taken to Babati District Hospital.
