Gangsters hit Dodoma again

Armed gangsters struck again in Dodoma Municipality and made away with 8,850,000/- yesterday. The thugs injured Joshua Ntandu, whom they shot in the arm and had to be rushed to Dodoma Regional Hospital where he is still admitted.
The incident took place just three days after robbers shot dead a shopkeeper and made away with an unknown sum of money.
Narrating the incident, Ntandu who was driving when they were attacked, said the gangsters struck at around 11:30 am as he and Samson Lusanho were coming from CRDB Bank to withdraw the money.
The vehicle they were driving in belongs to Mackay House, an institution owned by the Catholic Diocese of Central Tanganyika.
Ntandu is recuperating at the Dodoma Regional Hospital and was said to be in stable condition.
He said that the money was meant for Care Tumaini projects for HIV/Aids patients in Dodoma.
After they shot Ntandu, the gangsters rushed to his car and grabbed one of the bags in the vehicle.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Ntandu writhing in pain.
Acting Regional Hospital Chief phyisician Dr Dausen Kimaro said Ntandu was admitted to the hospital unconscious as a result of the shock caused by the tragic encounter with the thugs.
This is the latest in a series of armed robbery incidents that rocked Tanzania administrative capital in the recent past.
This was the sixth robbery incident in the past two months.
