Student dies after drinking binge

A 20-YEAR-OLD student has been found dead in Shinyanga after apparently drinking too much alcohol.
Justus Constantine of Buluba Secondary School died on Wednesday at his friend’s home in the municipality’s Ndembezi area, Shinyanga Regional Police Commander Abdallah Mssika said yesterday.
Constantine had on the previous evening arrived at the family home of his friend identified only as Malima who noticed that his classmate was ’extremely drunk’.
’Malima said Constantine was very drunk to the extent that he appeared delirious after apparently taking quite a large amount of alcohol,’ Mssika said.
Malima led Constantine to his room where he advised him to sleep for a few hours in the hope that he would sober up, but found him dead when he returned to wake him up.
The death was reported to police who moved the body to the Shinyanga Regional Hospital mortuary, Mssika said, adding that a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause of the death.
’Preliminary investigations have shown that the deceased died after consuming a large quantity of alcohol, but we’re waiting for the doctor’s report which we hope will put the matter to rest,’ the RPC said.
