Ten keep their posts as Karume names cabinet

Zanzibar President Amani Abeid Karume yesterday announced a team of 13 ministers to form a new cabinet for his second (2005/10) term, ten of whom served in the previous cabinet.
A State House press issued yesterday shows that of the 13 appointed ministers, there are three new faces and three women only.
The new faces in the cabinet are Zainab Omar Mohamed who has been appointed State Minister in the Presidents Office (special portfolio), Asha Abdallah Juma who will head the Ministry for Youth Development, Women and Children and Ramadhani Ramadhan Abdalla Shaaban (State Minister in the Presidents office – Good Governance).
Veteran politician Amina Salum Ali has been appointed State Minister in the Chief Ministers Office.
Those who served in the previous cabinet include, Ali Juma Shamuhuna, Dr Mwinyihaji Makame, Haroun Ali Suleiman, Sultan Mohammed Mugheir, Burhani Saadat Haji and Brg. Gen (rtd) Adam Mwakanjuki.
Others are, Suleiman Othman Nyanga, Mansour Yussuf Himid and Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The full cabinet is as follows: Ali Juma Shamuhuna (the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Information, Culture and Sports), Amina Salum Ali (State Minister-Chief Ministers office) and Dr Mwinyihaji Makame (State Minister- Presidents office responsible for Finance and Economic Affairs).
Others are Zainab Omar Mohammed (State Minister in the Presidents office-Special portfolio), Haroun Ali Suleiman (Education and Training Minister), Sultan Mohammed Mugheir (Health and Community Development Minister), Burhani Saadat Haji (Agriculture, Livestock and Environment Minister) and Brg. Gen (rtd) Adam Mwakanjuki (Communication and Transport Minister).
On the new list of cabinet ministers are, Suleiman Othman Nyanga (State Minister in the Presidents Office – Regional Administration and SMZ Forces), Mansour Yussuf Himid (Water, Works, Energy and Land Minister), Ramadhan Abdalla Shaaban (State Minister in the Presidents office – Good Governance), Samia Suluhu Hassan (Tourism, Trade and Investment Minister) and Asha Abdalla Juma (Youth Development, Women and Children Minister).
