Three die, 23 injured in Dar motor accidents

Three people died and 23 others were injured on Saturday in separate car accidents that occurred in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to reporters yesterday, the acting Dar es Salaam Regional Police Commander, Abdallah Zombe, said the first accident that occurred on Saturday morning at around 10am along Bagamoyo Road.
He said a police Land Rover 110 with registration number STJ 651 driven by Corporal Gasper was hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number T 769 AEZ driven by one Joseph Kilato that was heading to Kunduchi from Mbezi.
He said the collision saw the police vehicle hitting two other cars that were parked on the roadside, a Toyota Prado with registration T 225 ALC and a Toyota Hiace with registration number T 860 AAP.
The acting RPC said in this accident that involved four cars, three people were injured including the driver of the Police car and the Kawe Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mwapasi both of whom have been admitted at Muhimbili National Hospital. Another person who was injured was identified as Evance but was discharged after receiving treatment.
Zombe said in the evening of the same day at around 5pm another accident occurred along Ocean Road near the Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) causing two deaths, following what appeared to be a tyre burst to the front wheel of a Nissan Terrano with registration number T 607 AFT.
He said the driver, Serget Verkhorobin (35), lost control there after and the car, which had four passengers overturned killing the driver and one of the passengers identified as Alexie Smirnon (28) on spot.
The RPC said the accident injured two other passengers namely Oksana Verkhorobin (31) and Tatiana Sunrnova (27) who were taken to Aghakhan Hospital and admitted.
