China has donated ten computers and their accessories to the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) for use in the institution’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department.

Chinese Embassy Charge d’Affaires Tang Guangzhi presented the computers, ten printers and ten UPS to UDSM Vice-Chancellor Prof Matthew Luhanga in Dar es Salaam.

Tang and Prof Luhanga signed a handover certificate for the donation. The Chinese envoy hailed the university for its contribution to the development of Tanzania.

’In the age of knowledge-based economy, the governments of the developing countries are facing the common challenge to accelerate development,’ he said.

China paid great attention to education and to the development of science and technology, he added.

’This is why we have issued the assistance to the country’s top educational establishment,’ Tang said.

He said the donation was part of his country’s sustained support to promote education and culture in Tanzania.
’It is also an opportunity to boost the friendship between the people of Tanzania and China.’
