About 20 journalists from the print media are expected to benefit from a five day training on Reporting Development Issues to be held at The Guardian Ltd hall in Dar es Salaam starting today.

The main objective of the training is to highlight journalists, issues of global development concern for them to be able to analyse them well and engage the public in discussion for better participation in the country’s development process.

A statement issued yesterday by TAMWA says that the training is also aimed at boosting interest among the journalists on reporting development news.

The journalists will also tour some institutions such as factories and markets in the city, which are instrumental to national development.

Executive Chairman of IPP Ltd, Reginald Mengi, is expected to be the chief guest at the opening ceremony.

Researchers from the Institute of Development Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam and Research and Poverty Alleviation (REPOA), will have a session with the journalists on how to use research work in highlighting development issues.

The training, organised by Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA) in collaboration with the Commonwealth Press Union (CPU), will be facilitated by Media expert from UK, Daniel Nelson.
