Speaking soon after handing over ten computers and three printers worth about 7m/- to Heritage English Medium school, Sanjay Rughani, the bank’s Executive Director of Finance, said the bank has chosen three areas of community projects which would receive its support.

’’We will support the community in the areas of youth, health and education and the computers we have donated is part of our social corporate investment,’’ he said.

He, however, did not hint on the exact number of projects which would receive the support nor did he mention the names of the regions.

He said that last year; the bank spent over USD 250,000 on various community projects.

Explaining on why the bank offered computers and not any other learning equipment, Rughani said children needed early exposure to technological skills so as to cope with current changes in the world of technology.

Children need to start learning the basics of computer skills at an early stage in their education so as to sharpen their skills and acquire a strong foundation for future technological changes, he added.

Speaking earlier on, the school’s Board Chairman, Samuel Tugara, thanked the bank for the support and promised to use them efficiently.

’’In our curriculum, we have included computer lessons. However, we did not have enough computers. The donation will enable improve our position,’’ he noted.

The school, located in Ukonga area in Dar es Salaam was started in 2004. So far it has 201 students, 122 boys and 79 girls.
