About 50 blind persons made the appeal when participating in a three -day workshop on the National Strategy for Growth and Poverty Reduction (MKUKUTA) held recently at Buguruni ’A’ Primary School in Dar es Salaam.

In their appeal, the participants who were representing members of the Tanzania National Institute for the blind (TNIB), proposed for actions that would enable the handicapped make their life easier.

The participants at the workshop, which was organised by TNIB in co-operation with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Empowerment agitated for free medical treatment, education, transport, and a monthly allowance to overcome hardships occasioned by extreme poverty.

They also appealed for identity cards to enable them access services for free.
