President to address nation today

President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to address the nation through radio and television stations shortly after the news bulletin this evening.

This is according to a press statement issued by State House yesterday in Dar es Salaam.

The fourth-phase government President has expressed his determination to uphold former president Benjamin Mkapa’s traditional way of keeping Tanzanians abreast with the country’s developments on a monthly basis.

He announced his intention while speaking to Dar es Salaam elders at Diamond Jubilee on January 31, this year.

The President had promised to use different means of communication, including the media, to reach out to the public and inform them on development issues.

This evening, the President is expected to highlight on various national programmes lined-up for implementation and decisions adopted by the government.
