Tanzania is in the right track for improving further its economic growth and democracy, the Director of the US based African Presidential Archives and Research Centre, Ambassador Charles Stith, has said.

Speaking at a press conference at the University of Dar es Salaam yesterday, Ambassador Stith said that Tanzania has been doing well in terms of maintaining economic stability and has a high chance of improving further the pace of economic growth.

Stith, who is a former US Ambassador to Tanzania during the administration of President Bill Clinton, said that the country is also in great hands under President Jakaya Kikwete for achieving further progress in the economic and political fronts.

’Tanzania is one among African countries with the highest chances of achieving higher economic growth. The country is expected to make further significant strides in economic progress,’ Stith said.

He was presenting the African Leaders State of Africa report, the publication of APARC sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Stith also said in two weeks time, APARC would hold a meeting for former heads of State in Johannesburg to discuss partnership between US and African nations.

He said engaging in dialogue on Africa’s development was important, because in the US the African-Americans have huge annual income of USD 750 billion, which could be shared with Africa by a certain percentage.
