Said Mwema is new IGP

President Jakaya Kikwetea has appointed Said Ally Mwema, 53, new Inspector General of Police, replacing beleaguered Omar Mahita who has retired.
The President also appointed Sungura Manumba, 53, new Director of Criminal Investigations.
He replaces Adadi Rajab, who will be assigned other duties.
He made a major reshuffle in the police force, promoting some senior officials and made fresh appointments.
Kikwete has also designated Dar es Salaam as a special zone.
Before his new appointment, Mwema was Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the Interpol Sub-Regional Bureau, Nairobi.
He joined the police force in 1973 and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and has undergone various police courses.
Mwema and other newly appointed officials are expected to be sworn-in on Friday.
Mwema is a former Dar es Salaam Regional Crime Officer.
According to a statement issued by the State House, Clodwing Mathew Mtweve becomes the new Commissioner and Director of Finance and Administration, replacing Wilson Mwansasu.
Paulo Amani Moses Chagonja has been appointed Commissioner and Director of Training, replacing Laurian Tibasana, who is to be assigned new duties.
In the new set up in the force, all the three Dar es Salaam districts have been given regional status.
Dar es Salaam Regional Police Commander, Alfred Tibaigana now becomes the Commissioner and Commander of Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone.
