Kikwete opens seminar for govt leaders

President Jakaya Kikwete is today expected to open a six-day leadership seminar for senior government officials and civil servants.

A statement issued last Friday through the Tanzania Information Services said the seminar will take place in Arusha.

The statement named seminar participants to include ministers and their deputies, permanent secretaries and their deputies and other top civil servants.

Also on the list of topics are those involving separation of powers among the Parliament, Executive and Judiciary together with their rapport.

Other topics would involve those on strategies regarding the improvement of civil service performance, political challenges for the Fourth Phase government, national unity, good governance, defence and security together as well as the economy, according to the Maelezo statement.

The statement further quotes the Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office (Public Service Management) Ruth Mollel, as saying President Kikwete would chair the seminar.

In addition, Ms Mollel said participants would have the opportunity on the deliberation on the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi’s Election Manifesto of 2005, relations between the National Vision of 2005 and Strategy for Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction in Tanzania(MKUKUTA)as well as other national strategies.

’’Participants will have another opportunity of getting a common consensus regarding yardsticks on how best to assess and appraise the development on implementation of the CCM Election Manifesto of 2005,’’ Mollel was further quoted as saying in the statement.
