President to grace engineers fete

President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to be chief guest at the fourth Engineers Day in Dar es Salaam tomorrow.
At the function, the President will preside over a ceremony to honour engineers who excelled in their respective fields to serve the nation.
A press release by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), and signed by the Assistant Registrar Steven Mlote, said the president will present awards to engineers, who excelled in their service to the nation.
According to yesterdays statement, the President is also expected to tour and view special exhibitions prepared by the Board.
The engineers to be awarded in tomorrows fete include those who excelled in higher learning institutions.
There will also be a session during, which interns will be presented with certificates.
Additionally, it says, there will be an academic discourse with the theme: Developing Infrastructure: Engineering Perspective.
Engineers will also make presentation on minor topics delving on transportation infrastructure as the tool to use and implement the new opportunity economically.
Other topics are energy as the catalyst to develop production and service provision sector, and infrastructure of information dissemination to speed up economic and social development.
The meeting will also discuss infrastructure of the buildings and services as well as environment as cross cutting issues in the development of infrastructure.
At the same time, the board has urged the engineers and other stakeholders to attend the anniversary in order to be acquainted with the activities of the society of engineers.
The ERB has also asked all engineers to use the opportunity to exchange experiences in the profession for strengthening ability, and positions to foster the countrys economic and social development.
