The Tanzania Journalists Association (TAJA) has appointed freelance journalist Idda Mushi to attend a two-month training course in journalism studies in the Arabic Republic of Egypt.

Mushi, a long time PST correspondent based in Morogoro, also reports for ITV and Radio One on freelance basis.

According to a press statement signed by the Association’s Secretary General, Hamza Kondo, the course is run twice a year by the Federation of African Journalists’ Association (UAJ) in collaboration with ther Ministry of Information of Egypt.

’UAJ and TAJA have maintained a close friendship for many decades and in strengthening relations the two associations are having discussions to start a procedure of leaders to visit each other and to agree on convening its general meeting in Tanzania for the first time,’ the statement says.

This year, TAJA plans to send outside seven Tanzania
journalists through its programme in collaboration with its friends UAJ, International Federation of Journalists (IJF) and Canadian Science journalists (CSWA).

TAJA also has a sustainable plan to teach civic education to its members, which is the second step.

In the first step TAJA conducted civic education a day before the general election last year.

Currently, TAJA has 125 members countrywide and each month the number of members is keeping on increasing, says the statement.
