Standard Chartered Bank’s Chief Executive Officer for Africa, Sherazam Mazari, is due to arrive in the country today.

Mazari will be visiting Tanzania to discuss future plans for the bank in the country, according to a Standard Chartered Bank statement.

During his visit, Mazari is scheduled to meet with President Jakaya Kikwete, senior government officials and the bank’s staff and customers.

Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania will tomorrow donate 70m/- towards the second phase of the construction of the Kibaha Children’s Home in Kibaha District.

The Minister of Community Development, Gender and Children, Sophia Simba, is expected to preside over the function.

The bank embarked on the 140m/- project last year and the centre will accommodate over 300 orphans, most of whom have lost their parents to Aids.

The donation falls under the bank’s community initiative in which some funds are set aside to finance community projects in the youth development, health and education sectors.

The bank has donated over US$350,000 (420m/-) towards various community projects in the country since 2002.
