The Union Parliament resumes its ordinary sessions in Dodoma today.

This is the third time the House is meeting since last year’s general election, which brought the fourth-phase government under President Jakaya Kikwete to power.

A statement issued by the Clerk of the National Assembly in Dar es Salaam yesterday said this session of the House will end on April 6, this year.

During the third session three Bills will be tabled for discussion and eventual enactment.

These are: the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Bill, the Political Parties Bill, Meat Preservation and Veterinary Products Bill and Bank Procedures, Surveillance and Supervision Bill.

The proposed law on BoT is intended to enable the central bank to buy and sell government Treasury Bonds, supervise the implementation of financial policies, disbursement of loans to banks and other financial institutions that need credit, the statement said.

Most MPs from both the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi and the Opposition were expected in Dodoma yesterday ready for the session.
