Said Salim Bakhresa Company Ltd yesterday contributed 200m/- towards the government’s anti-hunger campaign.

The donation was handed over to President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday at a short ceremony at State House, Dar es Salaam.

President Kikwete commended the company for its concern about the hunger threat in the country.

He called on other local businesspersons and companies to join and emulate the firm and support the government’s campaign to stave off hunger.

The company’s Managing Director, Said Salim Bakhresa, said it was a responsibility of each Tanzanian to join in the war against hunger to ensure that nobody starved.

He called upon other Tanzanians to follow the example shown by some companies in supplementing the government’s efforts in fighting hunger.

The donation given by Saidi Salim Bakhresa Company Ltd is a continuation of food relief support being given by various donors within and outside the country.

Last week, the United Arab Emirates donated to Tanzania over 2bn/- to help the country deal with the famine crisis in the wake of prolonged drought.
