Mengi invites Manji to joint press conference

The Executive Chairman of IPP Ltd, Reginald Mengi, has invited Yusuf Manji of Quality Group to a joint press conference today to avert a brewing conflict between the African and Asian sections of the Tanzanian society.

In a press statement issued yesterday, Mengi said that the situation is a result of stories carried by ThisDay and Kulikoni newspapers regarding agreements reached by Quality Group and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

’’The current situation may, to a great extent, affect the national unity if you and I do not address the issue as soon as possible because national harmony and unity are important to me, you and all Tanzanians.

I therefore suggest that we hold a press conference so as to clear the air,’’ Mengi said in the statement. He added that the conference should be held neither in his office nor in Manji’s, but the latter was at liberty to choose the venue of the meeting.

A story carried by ThisDay last week alleged that Quality Group had dubious dealings with NSSF from which the former made a hefty profit.
