Some Salon business premises here have regrettably been turned into dens and black market spots for drugs transacted across the region, it has been learnt.
The Acting Shinyanga Regional Police Commander, Saimon Sillo, told PST in his office last week that the owners and employees of the Salons clandestinely cooperate with the drug dealers and users in the illegal business.
He mentioned the banned drug in circulation as marijuana whose dealers and users do frequently visits salons under the guise of justified hair dressing services, but are actually peddling the stone.
Sillo was talking to PST following a protracted police operation in the region aimed at weeding out criminals and bringing to book their hosts and accomplices.
It was during the operation that they succeeded to apprehend some of the drugs in a salon located at Maganzo village in Kishapu District commented Silo.
Sillo said while in the village on March 31, this year, police landed at a salon owned by Magreth Stephen (25) and netted 21 rolls of the grass.
In the same salon, police also found one Bahati (24) and Abdallah Said (25) who were believed to be the customers.
The three are helping the police in further investigations before being taken to court, said Sillo.
