Children too should participate fully in the county’s economic development processes including poverty reduction measures, the Deputy Minister of Community Development, Gender and Children Affairs, Dr. Batilda Burian has said.

’’Communities should ensure full participation of children in the country’s economic and poverty reduction processes,’’ Dr Burian said while launching a book - ’’Kijiji Chetu cha Mkukuta” at the weekend in Dar es Salaam, which was largely co-authored by children .

’’Incorporation of children in development strategies would serve as good foundation for their future,’’ said Dr Burian.

Kijiji Chetu cha Mkukuta was published by Children’s Council of Temeke Municipality and funded by UK’s Save the Children.

The books contain the collective views of children from within Temake District on the state of development.

It also touches on issues related to economic reforms, good governance, accountability and related subjects.

’Children, as members of the community need to be involved in these processes,” the deputy minister said.

The Secretary General of the Children’s Council, Latifa Rashid, said the children from the district wards contributed largely in the writings of the book.

The 47-men children council, according to Latifa, collected views from children across the district.

’’It represents constructive ideas of children from Temeke District on moves to reduce poverty and speed up economic growth,’’ she said.
