Good News For All Ministry in collaboration with 43 religious denominations have advised the government to take action against adverts that portrays moral decay in the society.

At a news conference in Dar es salaam yesterday, the organsation’s Bishop Charles Gadi Kahundami was apparently bolstered by the recent statement by President Jakaya Kikwete condemning adverts that sensitised HIV/Aids disease instead of educating.

He said some media such as radio, newspapers and television had been entertaining adverts that pollute the youth under the pretext of business advertisements.

’The deadly HIV/Aids disease does not only reduce the country’s manpower, most of which is made by the youth, but also affects the nation economic growth,’ he said.

He also used the opportunity to support the president’s initiatives in solving the problem of power supply, corruption and armed robbery.

’When speaking to the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), the president said his government was looking for alterative means of ending energy problems, corruption and armed robbery, for this we also recommend,’ said the Bishop
On his part, Yunis Habibu from the Muslim community said the war against the deadly HIV/Aids disease should be fought by all people, including the media.

He said the media should be at the forefront in condemning immoral advertisements rather than promoting them under the pretext of business.

He said all people should back the president’s move that aims at building a developed and a democratic society.
