Karume makes changes in directorate of information

Zanzibar President Amani Abeid Karume has made changes in the directorate of information and its institutions by appointing Abdalla Mohammed Juma new managing editor of the state-owned Zanzibar Leo newspapers.

This was the second phase of the reshuffles that began with the appointment of Ali Saleh Mwinyikai to replace Septi Suleiman as Broadcasting Commission’s executive secretary.

In the appointment, former Zanzibar Leo managing editor Mohammed Mzee Ali became deputy director of Government Printers.

Former TvZ director Hassan Mitawi was promoted to director of Information Services Department.

He was replaced by Chande Omar at TvZ.Director of Sauti ya Tanzania, Zanzibar (Voice of Tanzania, Zanzibar) radio Yussuf Omar Chunda retained his post with Jaffar Kasingo as his deputy director.

President Karume also appointed Mgeni Mwalimu deputy director of sports.

The appointments come on the back of complaints by employees in the information department over low pay.
