By Christine Chisha

First Secretary to the South African High Commission to Tanzania, Mmule Mautlane has hailed the government for the cordial relationship her country is enjoying in terms of trade.

Mautlane said this on Friday at the 30th Dar es Salaam International Trade fair (DITF) at the Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Grounds.

’We have a good relationship with the Tanzanian government, that’s why we want to use every opportunity to promote trade and tourism,’ Mautlane said.

She urged Tanzanians to visit South Africa and see what tourist destinations the country can offer.

Mautlane who is in charge of politics at the High Commission said her office was also providing information concerning the grounds on which foreign nationals are given asylum or refugee status in her country.

She mentioned political belief, race or ethnic origins, membership of social group, religious beliefs, nationality and tribe as the grounds on which a person seeking asylum can be scrutinised for.

She said at the DITF, South Africa was mainly promoting and giving more information on tourism and encouraging Tanzanians to study in that country.

Mautlane hoped the good conducive relationship the two countries enjoy would be sustained.
