Wolfowitz said this yesterday during official talks with President Jakaya Kikwete, when the former paid a courtesy call at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
The purpose of my visit here and to other African countries is to see how aid from the World Bank is being utilized. In Tanzania I have learnt that aid has been utilized efficiently. Promises have been fulfilled, said the World Bank boss.
He also commended Tanzania for maintaining peace and stability and was particularly impressed with what he observed in his tour of Manzese area, earlier in the day, where he said people mingled freely irrespective their ethnic or religions backgrounds.
He said he would narrate at the G8 meeting schedule for St Petersburg, Russia next week, the impressive story and all other good things he has seen in Tanzania.
On his part, President Kikwete briefed the World Bank chief on efforts being made by his government to improve the economy, good governance and political affairs of the country.
He particularly affirmed commitment to end the historic political turmoil in Zanzibar, particularly the animosity between the people of Pemba and Unguja.
Shortly after the brief visit to the State House, Wolfowitz was scheduled to fly to Dodoma, the countrys designated capital city, where he is expected to lay a foundation stone for the construction of National Housing Corporation (NHC) houses.
