President sees Libyan envoy off, PM on foreign tour

The Libyan ambassador to Tanzania, Bashir Albedaim Bashir, yesterday paid his last courtesy call on President Jakaya Kikwete, as the former leaves the country after completing his tenure of service.
A State House press statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam says the envoy will be leaving the country for his next assignment after working as Libyan ambassador for nine years.
According to the statement, President Kikwete commended the envoy for good service, saying that cordial relations between the two countries grew stronger over the years of Bashirs service.
On his part, Bashir expressed appreciation for good co-operation from the government, which helped him fulfill his duties, the statement concludes.
Meanwhile, the Premier, Edward Lowassa,leaves the country for Thailand and Vietnam today for official tour at the invitation of the Premiers of the two nations.
A statement from the Prime Ministers office released yesterday in Dar es Salaam says the visit is geared to strengthen cordial relations between Tanzania and the two southern Asia nations.
Five ministers are accompanying the Premier - they include the Minister for Energy and Minerals, Dr Ibrahim Msabaha, Minister for Industry, Trade and Marketing, Nazir Karamagi and the Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender and Children, Dr Batilda Burian.
On the entourage are also the Minister for Agriculture, Food Security and Co-operatives,Joseph Mungai,and the Zanzibar Minister for Agriculture and Environment, Burhan S. Haji, as well as two Regional Commissioners- Dr Christine Ishengoma (Coast) and John L. Mwakipesile(Mbeya.
The Premier will fly back home on September 10, 2006.
