Three charged with stealing 63.7m/- property

Three Dar es Salaam residents appeared at the Kisutu Resident Magistrates court yesterday charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and steal property valued at 63.7m/- belonging to two organisations, including a city-based firm, Geo- Engineering Company Ltd.
Before Resident Magistrate Elizabeth Mkwizu, the accused were named by the Public Prosecutor Iddy Kyogomo as Ally Omaru Sullu (36) resident of Mbezi, Waziri Kindumba (30) resident of Kimara Stop Over and Kassim Hassan (35) resident of Magomeni Mwembe Chai.
Kyogomo alleged that the accused faced three different counts including, conspiracy to commit felony with another unknown person at a public pensions fund branch in Dar es Salaam on August 20 this year, at mid night.
He claimed in the second count that the accused broke into the pensions fund office with intent to commit an offence.
In the last count, Kyogomo said the accused stole 1,476,000/-, two cash boxes, 17 cheques, three computers and one central processing unit (CPU), all valued at 60m/- property of the pensions fund branch.
At the same time, the same accused faced other charges of breaking into another office of Paul Sam Geo- Engineering Company Ltd with intent to commit an offence.
Kyogomo claimed before the court that after breaking into the office the accused did steal one personal computer, two CPUs, a Lap top, one personal computers hard disk and scanner, all valued at 3.7m/-, property of the company.
In another case, four people appeared at the same court charged with obtaining 5m/- by false pretence from one Ezekiel Jackson.
Public Prosecutor Dustan Kombe read the charges before Resident Magistrate Khadija Msongo saying that the accused, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, did obtain the said money on August 23 this year at around 7pm.
He named the accused as Moses John (30) a businessman and Athanas Charles (23) both residents of Buguruni, Mussa Ngonori (19) resident of Tandika and James Henry (34) resident of Mbagala.
