Infrastructure Development Minister Basil Mramba has underscored the need to boost efficiency of infrastructure connectivity of cellular communication in the country.

In his message on the occasion of the launching of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT)’s most extensive colour collection dubbed ’Cool Colour collection’ yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Mramba said cellular connectivity was crucial for the country’s development.

During the launch, Motorola also announced a new partnership with the new authorised Tanzania distributor, Orangemoto.

Mramba said in the message delivered on the occasion on his behalf by the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Co-ordinator, August Kowero, that connectivity, especially in rural areas needs to be boosted.

He said that the government, through his ministry, was very much delighted with the contribution from Motorola in ICT development.

”I wish to inform you that a protocol on Regional ICT Broadband Infrastructure Backbone has just been signed in Kigali, Rwanda and this shows that African governments have placed the issue of infrastructure at the highest priority to enhance communication services,’ said Mramba.

On his part, Nikesh Patel, Motorola Senior Director Market Development for Africa said; ”Motorola offers the local consumer stylish handsets, the ultimate fashion accessory, which allow for personal expression without compromising on functionality.”

He said that in line with the company’s vision to ”bring wickedly cool products to consumers across Africa,” Motorola has gone one step further to ensure that Orangemoto issues a one year warranty with every Motorola handset sold.

”This is another first for the Tanzanian market,” he said.
