A Dar es Salaam school, St Marks in Temeke District has set aside 17m/- and 10 motorcycles for hard working teachers and students who will perform well in this year’s national examinations.

This was revealed in the city on Tuesday by the school’s executive director, Thadei Mutembei at the graduation ceremony for form IV students, and added that the funds were already in the school’s safe.

He said apart from cash prizes, hard working teachers would get bicycles as a teaching motivation.

’Teachers whose students would score A and B pass would receive bicycles,’ said Mutembei, and called on parents to enroll their female children with the school.

The Director commended the National Examinations Council for its best services to both public and private-owned schools.

On his part the guest of honour, Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) Director Dr Silvanus Likwelile commended Mutembei for giving the challenge to teachers and students of the school.

Likwelile told students to avoid becoming unwanted burden to the Tanzanian society.

In his remarks, the school’s head teacher, Charles Mtenga, said his school has a total of 565 students, out of whom 155 students will complete Form IV this year.
