Spiritual leaders must encourage their believers to work hard to bring about development, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Abbas Kandoro has said.
Closing a two-day annual general meeting for Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which started on September 15 to 16, 2006, Kandoro urged Muslims not to look at the problems facing them but rather to utilize available opportunities, which can give them better lives.
A few months ago your leader visited a number of places in the country. I followed closely his teachings. He was preaching about the importance of peace, unity and hard work, he said.
If only religious leaders would continue with such kind of teachings, there was no way they could have conflicts with the government.
The RC asked members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Tanzania to build more schools.
This will help in reducing ignorance among the believers. I have learned that you also provide education to your believers. A leader who propagates education is a good one because he wants to liberate his followers from the chains of illiteracy, he said.
He added: Never deny your children chances to acquire education; if you do they will always be in deep sorrow for the rest of their lives,
In addition, Kandoro underscored the importance of unity among the Muslim believers.
