Govt seeks massive foreign investments

The government is pushing for massive foreign investments to bolster the poorly-performing economy, President Jakaya Kikwete said on Monday in Dar es Salaam.

The President specifically said investors from Japan and Italy were much welcome in the country, not only in the traditional field of hospitality but in manufacturing.

He was addressing newly appointed envoys from Kenya(Boaz Kidiga Mbaya), Burundi(Amuri Begenwanubusa), Italy (Francesco Katania) and Japan (Makoto Ito), Kikwete commended Italian investors for putting up tourist hotels in Zanzibar but said more needed to be done.

He said more investments in manufacturing, industry and agriculture were needed.

Japanese Ambassador said his county supports the government in its endevours to boost the economy.
